October 2007 Archives
Mmmmmm, that pizza sure was good. They had a giant tractor-trailer-sized Papa John's pizza booth which gave the race a bit of Euro flair. But it was pizza instead of frites and Haribo candy booths. I thought the course was good, with the green fly over thing, a bunch of sand traps, and a ton of twisty turnies. Check out Matt White come into the gnarliest sand trap on the tops of his bars! I thought that was pretty stylish. Stay tuned for a double dose next week from the Boulder races and the Farmington/Northampton east coast deal. Cyclofile Issue 1 just went gold, but we're shooting for platinum so buy a copy if you haven't already.
Here comes the next weekly Cyclofile installment accompanied by another great jukebox banger. Kerry Barnholt throws down, Katie Compton style, with back-to-back dominant wins. Timmy J strides to victory on the Granogue runup, and J Pows stays away, pretty much from the gun, to take the win at Wissahickon. Enyoy, and stay tuned for all the action from KY next week.
Stage Fort Park, Gloucester, Massachusetts. "Legend has it that if you stand very still, you can hear the sound of gears shifting and athletes weezing echo there throughout eternity." - Cyclofile Issue 1. Stay tuned for Granogue/Wissahickon clip next week. If you like what you see, scroll down for DVDs.
The cyclo-cross races in Southampton, NY on October 6 and 7, 2007. The world champ, Erwin Vervecken was there. It was cool seeing him work for the win on Saturday. If he hadn't broken his derailleur off in the last lap on Sunday, I think Barry might have won, regardless. This race is worth going to just for the ferry ride (if your coming from the north). Its not often you get to ride a boat to a bike race. Trebon demonstrates his favorite Belgian ringtone in this clip. He's spending most of the season over there, with quick trips back for Kentucky, Portland, and Nationals. And check out Powers schooling those guys on the little sandy hill on day 2! IN YA FACE!
Here it is. Highlights from Cross Vegas. Lyne Bessette and Ryan Trebon win on a grass carpet course. Miss Nevada and the 5th best Elvis impersonator in Vegas were there. It's a celebration b!@tches!
