Here are some wise words to young riders from the reigning cyclo-cross world champion, Erwin Vervecken.  Good luck on the 27th defending your title in Italy, Erwin!

What a couple of awesome races.  I think that was the smallest winning margin of Compton's four National titles.  And the men's races was action packed with two of the favorites (Powers and Trebon) hitting the deck big time, and a bunch of lead changes between Page, Wells, and Johnson.  The conditions were totally nasty, but still managable enough that it was still a race.  Check out the awesome song they played for the men's podium presentation.  Is that Vanessa Williams?  I love her!  Or maybe its Paula Abdul.  I'm not sure.  It's probably neither.  Check back after World's.  

Here's some race action from Rhode Island this past weekend.  Apologies for not covering the women's race on Sunday.  Team Cyclofile got held up on the way to the race getting sandwiches at Pantera Bread.  It was a long wait but the sandwiches were incredible.

With some snow and rain on Saturday and steady showers all day and driving winds on Sunday, these were the worst conditions U.S. 'cross has seen in a while.  It was epic.  Almost too epic.  The U23s were killing it this weekend, with Bjorn Selander leading the first lap on Sunday and Jamey Driscoll getting 6th overall on both days.  Watch out all you old fogies.  Hold tight for the Rhode Island races next week and then the grand wazoo the week after that.  And stay tuned for Cyclofile's special coverage of the World Championships in Treviso, Italy.
